Escape to Andalucía…
Taste the tapas
One of the great mysteries of Spanish gastronomy is the origin of tapas. Whatever way they started life, tapas are popular across Spain and every region has its own variations.
Andalucía is no exception, with seafood dishes like Boquerones, Calamari Andaluz and Pesciato Frito being particularly popular!
Feel the Passion
Semana Santa is a HUGE event in the Andalucian calendar. From Palm Sunday through to Easter Sunday the penitents carry huge platforms bearing scenes representing the Passion, death and resurrection of Christ in huge parades.
As the processions move through the streets, the air is heavy with incense and filled with music as the crowd lament the suffering and death of Christ.
Feel the rhythm
When people think of Spain, many people picture Flamenco dancers, clapping their castanets and stamping their feet and the roots of Flamenco are firmly planted in Andalucia. There are over fifty Flamenco styles.
A true Flamenco performance combines Toque, Cante y Baile (guitar, song and dance) in a show that is packed with emotional intensity.
Escape to Florida…
Park n’ ride
Orlando, FL, is theme park central and has more of them than any other place in the world. The six parks at Disney World Resort are just the tip of the iceberg!
So, if you want to catch the Hogwarts Express at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter or fly into space on the Millennium Falcon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Orlando has the ride for you.
Stretching 100 miles from Lake Okeechobee to Florida Bay, the Everglades are a slow-moving river that is 60 miles wide. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with a number of other special designations.
The Everglades are home to a number of endangered species and the only place in the world where both crocodiles and alligators live in the wild!
Find the Key
Made up of about 1,700 islands, the Florida Keys are a coral cay archipelago stretching 120 miles off the coast of Florida.
The keys are connected by 42 bridges. While many of the islands are uninhabited, the drive down along the keys has some amazing stop-off points. At the very end is Key West, which is just 60 miles from Cuba and has long been home to artists and writers.
